A year ago today I met a really sweet and talented girl! We have been thru a lot this year!
A year ago I attended Kandee Johnson's Glaminar, and I met a lot of really cool girls, most of them were from out of town so it was a little harder to keep in touch. Jessica was one of them and she was a local, which I loved because I love making new friends, especially in the industry.
She asked me what I did and I told her I was a hair and makeup artist, she asked for my number just in case she needed a hairstylist for a shoot.
The day went on and she left after the first class. Then a few weeks later she calls me to see if I was available for a shoot, and I said yesss! Now let me tell you this first shoot we did together is a story in itself, well to put it into a smaller note let's just say I thought it was the last of my days lol! Thank God the pictures came out great! (picture below)
After that fiasco we started getting to know each other and realized that we had a lot in common. She is such a talented woman, and an all around sweet and loving person. She's also an amazing mother! I've learned a lot from her and I am so happy we became such close friends! Good friends are hard to come by but Jessica has become one of my best friends!! I love you girly!!

Shampooing 101 & Artist Terminology
So has your hair been feeling dry and you've been using an awesome shampoo, well the problem is not the shampoo it's probably the way you're using it.
Most shampoos in the label in the back say "Lather on wet hair and rinse thoroughly, repeat if necessary." Well it's always necessary to repeat. Why? you ask, well the first initial wash is to remove the dirt and dust in there, even though you might not see it, it's there. So you would just have to apply shampoo from your scalp down to about below your ears. DO NOT APPLY IT IN YOUR ENDS! because shampoo is made to strip out the nastiness that's in there lol. So if you apply it to your ends you end up with very dry ends.
After you rinse the first shampoo do it again. The second wash is for the shampoo to do it's job, because if you just did it once, most of the time it's still dirty and you wash it again the next day. Which is not good either. You shouldn't wash your hair everyday, you'll end up with hair that feels like a Brillo pad lol.
Then when you're done with your shampooing mission haha, go on and continue showering. Then when your hair is a little drier you apply the conditioner from your ears down. (Unless you have extremely dry hair, you can apply a very small amount to your scalp) The reason you do not need it in your scalp is because you naturally produce oils and you don't want to end up with an oily mess when you blow dry your hair.
My favorite hair products are from Alterna. You can purchase them on www.ulta.com and www.folica.com
This is the better way of washing you're hair. I'm in no way saying you HAVE to do it this way but you will feel a difference. Just try it out and let me know how it went for you.
Now onto artist terminology. In the video I talk about a lot of wording that can make a difference. So once you watch the video if you have anymore questions just ask! :)
Thank you so much and Enjoy!

I love meeting new people!
This weekend I had to pleasure to meet an amazing artist named Mary Irwin, she's represented my Agency Gerard in Miami.
I will admit I was a little nervous in meeting her. It's a little tough being judged by others, but in a way I enjoy it. Thankfully she didn't rip my portfolio apart lol. She said I still have some work to do but that my skills were really good, which made me so happy!
This industry is full of very talented people and the more I get into it the more I realize how much I love it. It feels great to talk to someone who knows exactly what you're going through, which most times people don't get.
I also did the hair for a wedding on Sunday! The bride was absolutely beautiful! She was so sweet and at ease (very surprising) most of the time they're very stressed out. Her mom and bridesmaids were so amazing as well.
I love doing weddings especially when everyone is organized lol. It makes me think about my upcoming wedding which is getting very close!!
so enough about that
enjoy you're evening!

Makeovers!!
So a few weeks ago I had a contest on my Facebook fan page, and the winners were the cutest pair of twins ever! Personally I think they are gorgeous and didn't need a makeover, but it's always good to do something different. They each got a Free color service, hair cut, style, and makeup. They also won a free photo shoot, which we had to postpone because of the South Florida weather lol
Lissette decided to go a little more blonde, and her daring sister Yvette wanted to go for that Rihanna red. It's so crazy how much a hair color can change everything about your look.
For their make up:
Face
Benefit Primer
Face Atelier #4
Tarte blush in Peaceful
Mac Soft and Gentle as a highlight
Hoola from benefit
Eyes
Urban decay Primer Potion
A mix of shadows from Inglot
Tarte Amazonian Mascara
Carbon from mac on the lash line
and for the lips Tarte Lip Surgence in Sweet
I can't wait for their photo shoot!
Thanks girlies!

Updated Website!
So I had not updated my website in a while. And as I was uploading new pictures I realized how much I have been working.
I love my job so much! The best part is always when the Client says OMG! :) It's such a good feeling to make someone feel that way.
Hair and makeup has always been a part of me. Since I can remember, I always had little lipsticks and eyeshadows. When I was older (around 12) my grandma would let me dye her hair, and that's when I fell in love. It came so naturally. I knew that this is what i would be doing for the rest of my life!
So always do you, forget about what everyone says. Satisfaction is within, and nobody but yourself will give you that!
If you want to see my updated website check out www.starlitdesigns.com
I also have a few new videos on youtube.com/starlitlez
kisses and more kisses <3

Prom Prom Prom!
So this past weekend I got to do these two beauties you see here!
This is Stephanie, her prom was on Saturday, she was such a pleasure to work with, and her family was so nice and sweet to me!
And this is Ashley her prom was on Friday, she's my client's little sister. She is such a cutie, she was so excited!
I used Sephora face primer, Face Atelier Pro Foundation on Stephanie and RCMA Foundation on Ashley, Urban Decay Eyeshadow primer, then a mix of different shadows from La Femme, NYX, and BH singles, I also added white liner to the waterline to open up their pretty brown eyes. For the cheeks I used La Femme which btw are absolutely amazing (they are so pigmented!) Then for the lips a mixture of Graftobian lipsticks and sealed it all with Urban Decay All Nighter Spray!
I also did their Hair, used some of my favorite Hair Sprays from Redken and an Alterna Shine Spray. I used the cortex 4 in 1 clipless curling iron to add those soft curls :)

Sisterly fun!
So today was so much fun and exhausting at the same time lol, but having my little sissy there made it so much better!
I had a photo shoot today with a beautiful model named Carly Engleton @ Wilhemina, she was so cute and such a trooper. I worked with one of my favorite photographers Anjelica Martinez, look her up her work is AMAZING ;) Also Anthony Bermudez who is an absolute sweetheart, styled for us today, and hair and makeup by me :)
My little sister came along with me, I say little but she's 21 lol. She filmed the shoot and it was so cool seeing her there do her thing heehee. She's the cutest ever!! Thanks Roxy ily!
Shoot went great and we got some Florida sun, we were at a beach in Jupiter which I had never been to it was so pretty. It was a tiring, fun in the sun day lol and I hadn't got this sunburnt in a long time haha

Out with the old in with the new...
For the people who know, I had my car broken into about two weeks ago and all my stuff was taken. Everything gone, all that I had worked for. When you're a freelance artist you have to have the latest and greatest things. And I had just purchased a new flat iron, blow dryer, makeup etc.
When I have early shoots I tend to leave my kits in the car (which I know I shouldn’t do but oh well) and that morning when I went to get in my car to go to the photo shoot, I noticed my window was busted and everything was gone! I don't know how anyone knew that was there, or why someone would want to steal makeup and hair stuff... I felt so violated because I feel like someone has been watching me. All I did was think about the shoot and the upcoming events I had and how many people I would have to reschedule or schedule with other artists.
In the end everything got solved well I made it get solved haha. I called al my clients, rescheduled what I could and then started to realize how much everything was going to cost me. When you buy items little by little you don't realize how much money you have invested, so thankfully I had some money saved up (that I was going to use for new furniture lol) so I purchased all my necessities, it's taken me a while but I 'm back, and stronger than ever.
Things like this make you appreciate things you didn't know were there. I had the support of many people and I never looked at it as a negative, I looked at it as "oh well it was just stuff I'm fine and I'm ok", so I've been getting really cool products and tools, and I can't wait to use them all!
I will probably be reviewing a few things within the next few days.

Sooo new to this...
Let me start of by introducing myself, my name is Leslibeth it's kind of a long name so most people call me Lesly. I am a licensed cosmetologist based out of Florida and I have a company named Starlit Designs. I do both hair and makeup and I absolutely love it! This blog is going to be about me and my journey in this business. I will also be reviewing products here. Also I am getting married this year yay!!! lol so you will probably read some posts about that.
My love for hair and makeup started as soon as I can say lipstick (well really pinta labio, because I was raised speaking spanish) haha, and I started experimenting with my own hair in high school. I used to do all my friends hair and makeup for their proms and homecomings, it was so much fun. At about 18 I went to beauty school and started doing photo shoots and the fun has never stopped! I really love what I do and there is no better feeling than being excited about what your doing!
Now about my engagement. I have the best fiancee in the world, ( I know every girl says that, but I really am lucky!) He is my everything and my reason for being where I am today. Having the support of the person you love and look up to is an amazing feeling that can't be explained!
So I hope you got to know me a little better. :)
