Happy Friend Anniversary Jessica Rivera!!

A year ago today I met a really sweet and talented girl! We have been thru a lot this year!

A year ago I attended Kandee Johnson's Glaminar, and I met a lot of really cool girls, most of them were from out of town so it was a little harder to keep in touch. Jessica was one of them and she was a local, which I loved because I love making new friends, especially in the industry.

She asked me what I did and I told her I was a hair and makeup artist, she asked for my number just in case she needed a hairstylist for a shoot.

The day went on and she left after the first class. Then a few weeks later she calls me to see if I was available for a shoot, and I said yesss! Now let me tell you this first shoot we did together is a story in itself, well to put it into a smaller note let's just say I thought it was the last of my days lol! Thank God the pictures came out great! (picture below)

After that fiasco we started getting to know each other and realized that we had a lot in common. She is such a talented woman, and an all around sweet and loving person. She's also an amazing mother! I've learned a lot from her and I am so happy we became such close friends! Good friends are hard to come by but Jessica has become one of my best friends!! I love you girly!!

Shampooing 101 & Artist Terminology

So has your hair been feeling dry and you've been using an awesome shampoo, well the problem is not the shampoo it's probably the way you're using it.

Most shampoos in the label in the back say "Lather on wet hair and rinse thoroughly, repeat if necessary." Well it's always necessary to repeat. Why? you ask, well the first initial wash is to remove the dirt and dust in there, even though you might not see it, it's there. So you would just have to apply shampoo from your scalp down to about below your ears. DO NOT APPLY IT IN YOUR ENDS! because shampoo is made to strip out the nastiness that's in there lol. So if you apply it to your ends you end up with very dry ends.

After you rinse the first shampoo do it again. The second wash is for the shampoo to do it's job, because if you just did it once, most of the time it's still dirty and you wash it again the next day. Which is not good either. You shouldn't wash your hair everyday, you'll end up with hair that feels like a Brillo pad lol.

Then when you're done with your shampooing mission haha, go on and continue showering. Then when your hair is a little drier you apply the conditioner from your ears down. (Unless you have extremely dry hair, you can apply a very small amount to your scalp) The reason you do not need it in your scalp is because you naturally produce oils and you don't want to end up with an oily mess when you blow dry your hair.

My favorite hair products are from Alterna. You can purchase them on www.ulta.com and www.folica.com

This is the better way of washing you're hair. I'm in no way saying you HAVE to do it this way but you will feel a difference. Just try it out and let me know how it went for you.

Now onto artist terminology. In the video I talk about a lot of wording that can make a difference. So once you watch the video if you have anymore questions just ask! :)

Thank you so much and Enjoy!

I love meeting new people!

This weekend I had to pleasure to meet an amazing artist named Mary Irwin, she's represented my Agency Gerard in Miami.

I will admit I was a little nervous in meeting her. It's a little tough being judged by others, but in a way I enjoy it. Thankfully she didn't rip my portfolio apart lol. She said I still have some work to do but that my skills were really good, which made me so happy!

This industry is full of very talented people and the more I get into it the more I realize how much I love it. It feels great to talk to someone who knows exactly what you're going through, which most times people don't get.

I also did the hair for a wedding on Sunday! The bride was absolutely beautiful! She was so sweet and at ease (very surprising) most of the time they're very stressed out. Her mom and bridesmaids were so amazing as well.

I love doing weddings especially when everyone is organized lol. It makes me think about my upcoming wedding which is getting very close!!

so enough about that
enjoy you're evening!
